the market for the export brand, "Kamshan" had been lost to Kwong Chow Wan, where supplies of Indian opium were still available, while in Macau and Ching the competition of very cheap Chinese opium had to be

faced. The Political disturbances of 1925/1926 must

have been serious for the farm as the effect was for

sometime to close the Hong Kong market and to effect it seriously for sometime afterwards.

The general opinion seems to have been amongst the Chinese community that the managers of the Company did very well for themselves at the expense of the subscribers and small depositors, who lent their money and were never repaid.
